Quick start

Home Assistant already has a free, official Nord Pool integration covering all 7 countries SaveElectro tracks (Finland, Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania). If you haven't set it up yet:

You don't need a SaveElectro account for anything on this page.

What SaveElectro adds

The native integration gives you raw price numbers. It doesn't alert you, and it doesn't include VAT, margin, or grid fees -- so the number on screen usually isn't what you actually pay. Our Blueprints and guides fill that gap: ready-made automations you import in a few clicks.

What's next

We're working on a native SaveElectro integration for Home Assistant -- one that exposes what you actually pay (tax, margin, grid fee already included) and adds smart recommendations, not just raw spot prices. No date yet; the Blueprints above work fully without it.

Guide: Price Alert Blueprint

What it does: notifies you (or triggers any action you choose) when your Nord Pool price sensor crosses a threshold you set.

You'll need: Home Assistant with the Nord Pool integration already set up, and about 5 minutes.

  1. Download saveelectro_price_alert.yaml above and import it under Settings → Automations & Scenes → Blueprints → Import Blueprint.
  2. Create a new automation from the blueprint.
  3. Select your Nord Pool price sensor.
  4. Set your threshold (check your sensor's current value first if you're not sure what "cheap" looks like in your area/currency).
  5. Choose whether to alert when price goes below or above that number.
  6. Add what should happen -- a mobile notification is the easiest starting point (Add Action → Notifications → your device).
  7. Save. Done.

Guide: Water Heater / Boiler Timer Blueprint

What it does: switches your water heater or boiler on and off automatically based on price -- either during the N cheapest hours of the day, or any time price is at or below a ceiling you set. A safety fallback guarantees a minimum number of hours per day regardless of price, so an expensive day never leaves you with cold water.

You'll need: Home Assistant with the Nord Pool integration set up, a smart plug or relay/switch controlling your water heater, and about 10 minutes (a couple more than Price Alert, since there's one helper to set up first).

  1. Create a History Stats helper to track today's runtime: Settings → Devices & Services → Helpers → + Create Helper → History Stats. Set Entity to your heater's switch, State to on, Type to Time, Duration to 1 day. This is what the safety fallback checks against.
  2. Download saveelectro_water_heater.yaml above and import it under Settings → Automations & Scenes → Blueprints → Import Blueprint.
  3. Create a new automation from the blueprint.
  4. Select your Nord Pool price sensor and your heater's switch entity.
  5. Pick a scheduling mode: Cheapest hours (easiest -- just choose how many hours per day, e.g. 8) or Price ceiling (runs any time price is at or below a number you set).
  6. Set your minimum guaranteed hours and the time of day the fallback should check (default: 3 hours, checked at 20:00).
  7. Select the History Stats helper from step 1 as the runtime sensor.
  8. Save. The heater will now start following the cheapest hours automatically, with the fallback as a safety net.

Guide: EV Charger Scheduling Blueprint

What it does: charges your EV during the cheapest hours -- either the N cheapest hours per day, any time below a price ceiling, or (the EV-specific mode) by a deadline: tell it how many hours you need and when the car must be ready, and it finds the cheapest hours in that window automatically.

You'll need: Home Assistant with the Nord Pool integration set up, a smart plug on your charger or a wallbox with its own HA integration (Easee, Zaptec, go-eCharger, and similar all expose a charging-enable switch), and about 10 minutes.

  1. If you're planning to use Cheapest Hours or Price Ceiling mode, create a History Stats helper first (same as the Water Heater guide above) -- skip this if you're only using Deadline mode.
  2. Download saveelectro_ev_charger.yaml above and import it under Settings → Automations & Scenes → Blueprints → Import Blueprint.
  3. Create a new automation from the blueprint.
  4. Select your Nord Pool price sensor and your charger's switch entity.
  5. Pick a scheduling mode: Charge by deadline is usually the best fit for EVs -- set how many hours you need and what time you need to leave, and it works backward from there.
  6. If using Deadline mode, set your required hours and ready-by time. Otherwise, configure the cheapest-hours count or price ceiling, plus the safety fallback settings.
  7. Save. Done.

Guide: Robot Mower Charging Blueprint

What it does: charges your robot mower during the cheapest hours -- cheapest N hours per day, a price ceiling, or a deadline mode if you mow on a set schedule and want it charged and ready by a specific time.

You'll need: Home Assistant with the Nord Pool integration set up, a smart plug on the charging dock or a mower with its own HA integration (Husqvarna Automower, Worx Landroid, and similar), and about 10 minutes.

  1. If you're planning to use Cheapest Hours or Price Ceiling mode, create a History Stats helper first (same as the Water Heater guide above) -- skip this if you're only using Deadline mode.
  2. Download saveelectro_robot_mower.yaml above and import it under Settings → Automations & Scenes → Blueprints → Import Blueprint.
  3. Create a new automation from the blueprint.
  4. Select your Nord Pool price sensor and your mower charging switch entity.
  5. Pick a scheduling mode -- Cheapest Hours is the default and works well for most setups.
  6. Configure the settings for whichever mode you picked, plus the safety fallback if using Cheapest Hours or Price Ceiling.
  7. Save. Done.

Guide: Sauna / High-Current Heating Timer Blueprint

⚠ Read this before importing. This Blueprint is automation logic only -- it does not include, and is not a substitute for, the physical installation. Sauna heaters and other high-current circuits (often three-phase, frequently 16-25A+) must be switched using equipment rated for that load and installed by a licensed electrician -- never a generic smart plug. If you don't already have a certified, professionally-installed relay or contactor, see our certified partner products or find a licensed electrician in your area first.

What it does: once you have a properly installed switch, this schedules it by price -- cheapest hours, a price ceiling, or ready-by-a-set-time -- plus a mandatory maximum-runtime safety cap that force-stops the heater after a set number of hours regardless of price, independent of the scheduling logic.

You'll need: Home Assistant with the Nord Pool integration set up, a professionally-installed, load-rated smart relay or contactor (see disclaimer above), and about 10 minutes.

  1. Confirm your switching hardware was installed by a licensed electrician and is rated for your heater's load -- do not proceed with a generic smart plug.
  2. Download saveelectro_sauna.yaml above and import it under Settings → Automations & Scenes → Blueprints → Import Blueprint.
  3. Create a new automation from the blueprint.
  4. Select your Nord Pool price sensor and your heater's switch entity.
  5. Pick a scheduling mode, and set the maximum continuous runtime -- this safety cap applies no matter which mode you choose, and defaults to 3 hours.
  6. Save. The heater will now follow your price schedule, with the runtime cap as an independent safety backstop.
